La journée a commencé par une présentation informative du Dr. Ing. Abir Gallala, responsable du développement commercial chez ArcelorMittal. La conférence d’Abir, intitulée Présentation de SmartSheetPile : Advanced Structural Health Monitoring for Steel Sheet Piles, a fourni des informations approfondies sur la technologie innovante conçue pour améliorer la sécurité et la durabilité des infrastructures.

Le Dr Gallala a expliqué les capacités de transformation de SmartSheetPile, en mettant l’accent sur son rôle dans le passage des produits traditionnels à des solutions et services holistiques qui privilégient la création de valeur et la résilience. Elle a souligné la capacité du système à surveiller, détecter et prévoir/prévenir les dommages dans diverses conditions, à protéger les structures contre les dommages accidentels et induits par les conditions météorologiques et à fournir des alertes précoces pour prévenir les effondrements catastrophiques. Sa présentation a souligné l’importance de la maintenance prédictive qui élimine le besoin d’inspections coûteuses et de réparations non programmées, améliorant ainsi l’efficacité opérationnelle.

FR Following the enlightening presentation, the team observed the practical application of SmartSheetPile technology. They witnessed the precision in setting custom depths for SheetPiles using specialized vibration equipment, capable of installing and extracting 20-meter U-shaped SheetPiles to facilitate the port’s expansion. This not only allows for the efficient handling of infrastructure demands but also the potential reuse of materials, showcasing sustainable construction practices.

FR The trip also highlighted the first onsite use of the SmartSheetPile solution integrated with the XCarb® EcoSheetPilePlus, allowing real-time monitoring of retaining wall conditions over the coming years. This application represents a pivotal step in leveraging innovative monitoring technologies to ensure the long-term sustainability and safety of maritime infrastructure.

The visit proved to be a practical demonstration of how SmartSheetPile technology can be applied in real-world settings, making it an invaluable experience for the team.
