Mobility Infrastructure Solutions
Road and Railway Infrastructure, Underground car parks and Basement
Less disruptive, cost-effective and quicker infrastructure constructions
The unique properties of steel sheet piles make them an excellent option for building road and railway infrastructures.
Projects are delivered faster, thanks to shorter installation times, saving costs. Sheet piles can be installed in complex configurations. Silent and low-vibration installation techniques minimise impacts on the community in urban settings.
Our technical departments support project developers and engineers in selecting and designing the optimal steel solutions, with the help of ArcelorMittal design software, such as AMRetain™, ProSheet, Durability, SAFIR or VLoad.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) digital objects are available for ArcelorMittal steel sheet piles.
Road and railway infrastructures
Steel sheet piles are commonly used to build road and railway infrastructures. It is a cost-effective solution for
- retaining walls,
- tunnels,
- underpasses,
- bridge abutments.
They can achieve a service life of up to 100 years in normal soil conditions, and bear high vertical loads.
Underground car parks & Basements
Hot rolled steel sheet pile sections are the ideal material for constructing retaining walls of underground car parks (UCP) and basements. Main advantages are
- more cost-effective,
- faster execution,
- vertical load bearing capacity; sheet piles can transfer significant vertical loads from the structure above ground to the soil (works simultaneously as a retaining wall and as a foundation element),
- watertight walls and connections with bottom slabs.
